Cryostat Magnets from USA to Switzerland (Sep-2005 to Sep-2006)
Fermilab National Laboratory in Batavia, IL is a major partner in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, the European Particle Physics Laboratory located near Geneva, Switzerland. The LCH ring, 27 kilometers in circumference will initially have two general purpose detectors: CMS and Atlas. In a global effort, American universities and national laboratories are contributing hardware and software to both.
In a competitive bidding process, AMERICAN OVERSEAS TRANSPORT LTD., (AOT) together with their partner Clarke Export Packing were awarded the transportation from Batavia, IL to Cern, Switzerland of 18 Cryostat Magnets used in this LHC ring. A major consideration was the experience and reliability AOT and Clarke Export Packing had shown in previous project movements on behalf of Fermilab.
The Cryostat Magnets were either transported in 40FT shippers owned containers or in large crates. The containers were outfitted with special frames to hold the highly shock sensitive magnets. Transportation is done by air-ride trucks from Batavia, IL to Baltimore, by vessel from Baltimore to Antwerp, and again by air-ride truck from Antwerp to Cern. After unloading of the magnets in CERN, the containers and the frames are returned to Fermilab and loaded again with the next shipment of magnets.
A.O.T. Japan Ltd., – Tokyo office moves to a new location
After over 8 years at the location in Koamicho, Tokyo, AOT Japan Ltd. moved the Tokyo office to a new location on June 10 th, 2006. Our new office is located on the Westside of the Nihonbashi business district in Tokyo. The office is conveniently located near major train and subway lines allowing easy access to our customers with public transportation. We look forward to welcome many visitors to our new office.
A.O.T. Japan Ltd., – opens two sales offices in Japan
In April 2006 A.O.T.Japan Ltd opened a new sales representation in Osaka. Osaka and the Kansai area with it the cities of Kobe and Kyoto form the 2 nd biggest market in Japan. The Sales office in Osaka will also be responsible for business developments in western Japan reaching as far as Kyushu.
The following month A.O.T. Japann Ltd. also opened an office in Nagoya. Nagoya and the Chubu area are the third largest market in Japan. Manufacturing in the Chubu area centers on cars and machinery and it is home of the biggest Japanese car manufacturer Toyota Motors Ltd.
The long awaited expansion of A.O.T. Japan Ltd in these important markets will put our company in a ideal position for sales and business growth.
April 2006 – Tacoma Narrows Bridge Project Shipment
AOT Group handled a shipment of winches and equipment needed for the construction of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, Tacoma, WA. 112 packages of various weight and sizes totaling approximate 1400cbm were loaded on the M/V Ocean Coral at Kokura Port/Japan and unloaded at Everett Port north of Seattle. After arrival the shipment was delivered to two different locations using a total of 45 truckloads within 3 days. Representatives of AOT were on location to co-ordinate the customs clearance and delivery process to the fullest satisfaction of our customer.
